Steven started the work of Thinking Better in 2010, primarily reaching out to help people badly affected by the economic recession. He has seen the work grow by demand and helped Thinking Better register as a charity in Scotland in 2014, enlisting its board of trustees and ever expanding team of volunteers. The work of the charity still focuses on people with depression and/or anxiety, but has provided assistance for people struggling with all manner of mental health issues, including sleeping disorders, bipolar, stress, schizophrenia, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and victims of crime/abuse.
Steven started to work in the field of psychology after enjoying a very successful career in construction. Clients in his own private psychology practice include premiership football players/coaches, business leaders and individuals from 15 countries. He is a member of several professional bodies, including the International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy, the International Society of Sports Psychology, the European Federation of Sports Psychology, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Chartered Institute of Builders. Accustomed to speaking at conferences in several countries, Steven is also the author of two books, Live A Motivated Life and Have Confidence, Have Success. His passion is to help people fulfil their full potential.
Steven's charity work includes being a founding and current trustee of the BASICS Trust for the past 20 years. The trust owns and operates a drop-in cafe on Uphall main street, which meets the needs of many people in the local community. The trust also operates a very successful youthwork project, known as BUSY, which has three employees and a team of 30 volunteers, regularly working with 250+ young people in the Broxburn area, helping them to overcome their challenges and fulfil their potential.

He moved on from banking to become Finance Director and co-founder of Country Lifestyle Homes. During his five years there, he helped the company achieve a £3million annual turnover and win two national awards. He is currently the Finance Director of Professional Motivation Ltd.
Kennys charity work includes being treasurer since 2007 of a drop in café and youthwork charity which employs a full time and part time youthworker in his home town. Kenny is also currently Chairman and Group Co-ordinator of the charity Friends of Chernobyls Children West Lothian where he has arranged 5 annual, month long visits to West Lothian for groups of around 20 children.
Kenny helped start Thinking Better back in 2010 and has diligently performed his administration duties, ensuring the growth of the charity has been smooth and efficient over the years.

Andrew Wong

Andrew has recently retired from his position as a manager in the NHS. He is Thinking Better's first chairman of the board of trustees, taking up the reigns of the position in 2013. Under his leadership we have achieved charitable status and established a programme that will see the charity grow in terms of its positive impact on the lives of people and communities throughout Scotland.

Dean is a valuable member of a very successful and market leading family business in West Lothian. The experience and professionalism he has gained over his career is evident in the quality of his contribution as a trustee of Thinking Better. His partner, Penny, is also a psychologist and volunteer within the charity.

Our treasurer and trustee wishes to remain anonymous, providing his services without public recognition. This modest person is a graduate of Edinburgh University, spending most of their working life split between working in the library service and being a personal care giver. This person's attention to detail is one of their greatest qualities which they bring to their position as trustee with Thinking Better. This person has also served as treasurer for many years with another not-for-profit organisation in West Lothian.
